What exactly is in the Hip-Hop Section?
HipHopPoetry[dot]com offers a few different mediums in our Hip-Hop section. But please note, all of our hip-hop audios are in our Audioz Section (check "Soundbooth").
Open Mic - All of our Hip-Hop Verses (in text, in writing) go in here. Group effort or solo...NO POEMZ, NO AUDIOZ and NO BATTLEZ.
Rhyme Schemezz - Flex your vocab in here with lyrical excersizes, challenges and cyphers...NO BATTLIN' allowed.
Battle Groundz League - All Official Hip-Hop Text Battlez are in here. Our official Champ Titles are won and lost in here.
Mad Cow - Here is where you can call someone out to a battle or exchange smack over a beef or match. Threads that go 2 weeks without a new response are deleted. This area of the website is not moderated, this is no man's land.
Unofficial Battlin' - Spar it out with other members, Battlez in these threads do not count towards the official Battle Record. These too are non-moderated threads.
Hiztorical Battlez - All Official Battlez (pre-Battle Groundz League) are archived in this forum...only for viewing purposes, no new post allowed.

Open Mic Section
Members post up the lyircs to tracks they've recorded or verses/songs they have written out. No battle verses aimed at another members is allowed in here, neither are poems. Members critique one another on a variety of angles. Sometimes our members will post collaborative pieces. You can find alittle bit of everything in here. Every Monday one of our moderators chooses a song/free verse as our "Open Mic of the Week", which receives a spotlight as a "Sticky" thread (it is placed above all other threads)

Rhyme Schemez
In our Rhyme Schemez section, MC's get to flex their writing ability in some excersizes created/shared by other members. Our official HHP CRewz also hold tryouts in this section. Great for writer's block and showing off adaptable skillz. Only Hip-Hop text verses go in here.

Battle Groundz da' League
Battle Groundz da' League
Below are the rules and regulations. All who compete must abide by these rules, so get familiar, REAL familiar.
Battle Groundz da' League (BGL) is HHP's first ever Hip-Hop battlin' league!
It will run on 5 Week Cycles
4 Battlin' Weeks
(champs must defend belt 2 different times within this time frame)
1 Championship/Grudge Week
(all matches decided by MODs)
SIGNING UP
[ 1 ] Signups go up a week before the posting of battlez (i.e., during week one, sign ups for week two will be up...during week two, sign ups for week three will be up)
Signups close Friday at 11:59 PM PST
When you sign up, you are to state in your post what type of a battle/match* you want (be sure to include who your opponenet is or if you are signing up for an "Annonymous Battle*")
*BGL offers 6 different types of battlez/matches to choose from...
Straight Battle -- contenders post battle rhymez directed towards their opponent (no theme/topic)
Topical Battle -- contenders post battle rhymez directed towards their opponent, rhymes must follow the set theme/topic of a MOD's choosing
Topical Match -- contenders post rhymez that are NOT directed towards their opponent, they must follow the set theme/topic of a MOD's choosing; unlike the above, where you get to choose who your opponent is, below is our Annonymous Battlez; *here you just sign-up for a match, but you don't know who your opponent is until the match is posted...
Annonymous Straight Battle -- contenders post battle rhymez directed towards their opponent (no theme/topic)
Annonymous Topical Battle -- contenders post battle rhymez directed towards their opponent, rhymes must follow the set theme/topic of a MOD's choosing
Annonymous Topical Match -- contenders post rhymez that are NOT directed towards their opponent, they must follow the set theme/topic of a MOD's choosing
[ 2 ] Matches will be posted on Monday before 11:59 PM pacific standard time
[ 3 ] Verses due Wednesday (no check in) before 11:59 PM pacific standard time unless otherwise stated by MODs prior to posting the battlez (NO EXTENSIONS ALLOWED ONCE A BATTLE IS SET UP)
[ 4 ] All Votes due Friday before 11:59 PM pacific standard time
[ 5 ] Only ONE post per battler (you will be automatically disqualified)
[ 6 ] Every 5 week cycle, contenders will be allowed ONE "Void Pass". A "Void Pass" is the chance to cancel your match due to an emergency. You MAY NOT use your void pass during belt matches or during Championship Week Matches. You must post "Void Pass" in your match by Tuesday night, before 11:59 PM pacific time (the server time will be assumed to be the correct time, please adjust accordingly)
[ 7 ] Failure to show (DQ) and you will be unable to participate in the next weeks match. Belt Holders are allowed one DQ per title possession without having to relinquish the belt. If they are DQ'ed a second time during their time with the title, the following week the winner of this DQ'ed match and the last willing contender to lose in a match for the Belt, will compete and the winner will be crowned the new champ. If a Belt Holder is DQ'ed during a Championship Week Match, they will lose their belt and the same rules that apply to a belt holder's second DQ will be applied.
[ 8 ] You must have at least 75 posts and have been a registered member of HipHopPoetry[dot]com for 3 weeks prior to the date the competition is posted, which is every Monday unless otherwise notified
Voting:
If you participate, you are REQUIRED to vote on at least 3 other matches.
All votes must be detailed
You need 75 posts and have been a member for 21 days in order to vote

How are the Pointz in the Official Battle Groundz da' League Rankings computed?
You are ranked by your "Pointz" Value. Below is how those "Pointz" are computed...
A Win equals 3 pointz
A tie equals 1 point
A DQ equals -2 pointz
A TKO equals 2 pointz
X-Pointz are your extra pointz, right now the only way to earn that is to defeat someone in a Belt Match (successful defense or the earning of it)...that is an additional 2 pointz
Add all that up and multiply it by your Vote % [Percentage of the Votez in your matches that were for you] and you've got your Pointz total.

Mad Cow: call outs, beefs and free-posting
This is one of two sections of the website that the moderators do not regulate. People air out verbal grievances, start beefs, call out challenges and basically act the full. Threads that go inactive after 2 weeks are deleted.

Unofficial Battlez
Like our Mad Cow section, this part of the site is not regulated by MODs. In here, members spar with one another. Battlez are set up by members themselves and people vote on winners. Since it is unofficial, records of who won and lost are not documented.
